My Origin, The Inspiration Behind Becoming a Marine Sustainability Planner

Every time I explored the underwater world through scuba diving, I found myself more captivated by the ocean’s beauty. At the same time, I came to realize that this beauty is under threat from numerous environmental issues. That awareness became the starting point of my journey, a desire to take action and do what I could. I majored in Aquatic Environmental Education at the Faculty of Marine Science, Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology. After graduation, I continued to support educational events hosted by the research lab I had been part of, while also participating in various local environmental initiatives and serving as an advisor.

My journey toward becoming a “Marine Sustainability Planner,” someone involved in the preservation of the marine environment, began with a stay at the Moon Beach Museum Resort in Okinawa. I still vividly remember the deep impression it left on me, being surrounded by such a stunning environment with a breathtaking view of the ocean right before my eyes. Located in Onna Village in northern Okinawa, this resort is said to be the oldest beach resort in Okinawa. For many years, it has been a place where countless people could experience the wonder of nature and the sea. While exploring the resort, I thought, “If we could plan and carry out an environmental project here, it might inspire many people to care more about the ocean.” That idea led me to propose the concept to the hotel staff, and that was where it all began.
